Officers were called to Star Confectionary in Riverhead on East Main Street on Tuesday, Nov. 12, after the owner discovered the break-in around 7:55 a.m.
Initially, it appeared that nothing was missing, but the owner later found that assorted US currency had been taken, Riverhead Police said.
Detectives believe the break-in happened between 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, and 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500.
